A two-hour starter session can make progress in one room, create categories, protect keepsakes, or clarify the larger plan. A half-day or full-day visit can cover more physical sorting when decisions are ready and access is straightforward.
Why whole-home timing varies
Timing changes with the home's size, volume of belongings, stairs or building access, the number of family decisions, packing needs, donations, hauling, dumpster coordination, and how quickly outside providers can schedule.
A property that is ready for removal moves differently from a home where family members still need to review decades of belongings. Both situations are normal.
A staged timeline can be easier
Many families begin with documents and keepsakes, move to family packing, then coordinate donations and haul-away. Staging the work gives relatives time to respond and helps avoid removing something before everyone has had a chance to review it.
